The air laid thick in smoke with the burning fires in the distance. Rubble and gore covered what was once the buzzling city life of West City. Vegeta kneeled, his lungs stinging with every breath. He spit out fresh blood wiping his mouth clean. The android known as Seventeen landed a few feet away waiting on his next move. He wobbled over his feet with the effort it took to stand. Taking a breath, Vegeta charged with unreserved strength. He missed the swing of his punch blocking the android's attack. They exchanged a series of blows. Something struck the back of his knees. Vegeta's feet gave way from under him.
He hit the ground hard.
Heartbeat
They sat shoulder to shoulder on the roof's ledge, moon in full bloom.
"What are the first words that come to mind when you think heartbeat?"
He shrugged.
She began, "a smooth rhythmic llulaby."
"Flow of life," he added, nonchalanced.
"Quickening new beginnings slowing tired old ends." She balanced on tippy toes pacing the ledge.
"Affirmation of living." He yanked her back her weight shifting.
A sheepish smile. "Inner strength. Self worth."
"Power," his grip lingered, fingers twinned.
She sat between him. "Contentment. Pleasantries."
Narrowing eyes, "anguish. Death. Defeat. Victorious to conquest."
She sighed. "Lust and
16. Eyes
He sat atop the rooftop transfixed in the tint lining her eyesbluer than the tremulous sea. Bluer than the atmospheric mirrors marking up what is known as day sky. He doubted she could sense him in the shadows mere meters above her head where she stood on the balconys ledge. A ripple disrupted the waters surface breaking the dam. She leaned farther over the railing, her gaze lost in the night; pupils twinkled like crystallites through the moonlights dim light. A sob escaped her lips, the dam pouring into overflow. His chest constricted. Was this what they called guilt?

Haku and Mei were best friends. They lived in a small fishing village near the sea. Every day, they rowed their tiny raft across the sandy shores of a small island just beyond the mainland. The island had tall green grass so high it reached above their heads. Flowers decorated the ground in many shapes and colors. Trees covered the mountain’s cliffside, their leaves, and branches sprouting from the rocky walls.
A waterfall streamed nearby. Not far beneath the bushes laid a secret cave no one else knew about. It was their secret place—a place where they could play together without interrupt

Whats that for? His lips felt moist to the touch of his fingertips. He drew back feeling blood rush to his fair cheeks. She twirled a few locks between two fingers giving him an enigmatic smile.

I need to experience this moment if only once.
Why me? He bumped the wall as she advanced on him, pinned between her outstretched arms.

I Knew

An uncontrollable urge,
I knew
You'd be mine for keeps
From the first glimpse,
I knew
Just as I saw that face
Perfect in every mortal way
Laid imprinted in my mind
Like a permanent mark
Fade it, nothing could
But discarding the image away,
Away from my furthest memory
Ideally, it was a waste
To dwell on such foolish things
That of just some alluring creature
So I parted
With the thought
Of never seeing you again
But then a twist of fate
Lure us to convene
Somehow...
I've been pulled into your world
My insides experienced something
I could not describe
Had never felt
Never pondered on before
